Sunday School is offered for 2 year olds through adults from 9:45-10:45.
The average class size is 12 children/youth with classes being age specific.
Rotation
We offer Rotation Sunday School for 1st - 6th grades.
This is a model of Sunday School where the children rotate to different rooms each
for 6 weeks while they study the same theme. The theme is presented in a different medium in
each room allowing children to use several of the intelligences. We have found Rotation Sunday school to be
very beneficial.
The kids really enjoy this style of Sunday school. It begins at 9:45 AM on Sundays during the school year.
Nursery
We offer nursery care during the Sunday school hour so that parents can attend an adult Sunday school class or teach in our Sunday school program.
We have a pager system which enables us to contact you if needed.
Sunday School classes are offered for adults from 9:45 - 10:45 Sunday mornings.
The class titles and dates are posted in the church newsletter and bulletin.
Opportunities for children and youth are as follows:
Good News Bearers (1st - 5th grades) Wednesday after school.
Good News Bearers is a great fellowship group for these kids.
While having fun with their friends, they also learn a lot about the Bible as they have a reading program during the year.
They enjoy practicing and performing biblical plays for each other and from time to time for the congregation of the church.
A couple of highlights of the year are a high tea party in which senior citizens are invited to attend and the slumber party at the end of the year.
Jr. and Sr. UMYF Jr. and Sr. UMYF (our Methodist Fellowship groups) meet on Sunday afternoons and evenings during the school year.
There the kids enjoy the fellowship of their friends while doing fun and activities and also service projects.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is held at the beginning of the summer. It includes children up to 5th grade. Our theme this year was Treasure Cove. We always have a super time at VBS!
We start the evening with a provided meal and it gets better from there! Be watching closer to Spring for the 2007 theme!!
The Dakotas conference has 3 great camp sites. They are:
Lake Poinsett, which is 25 miles northwest of Brookings
Wesley Acres in North Dakota
and
Storm Mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Our church is a big supporter of the camping program and we are always up near the top in our conference for number of people we send to camp each year.
There are a wonderful variety of camps to attend for absolutely everyone. We have what we call Camp Sunday in the spring to promote camp.
It’s a fun, relaxed Sunday where we are encouraged to dress as you would at camp and the entire service is about camp.
Our conference website for camping is
www.dakcamps.org.
For more information about camp, please call the church (692-4345).
